This course delves into the artistry of screen acting, emphasizing the delivery of authentic and lifelike performances on screen. The primary focus of these sessions will revolve around hands-on exercises with film and television scripts, complemented by a continual exploration of the technical knowledge essential for success in these domains. By the end of the module, each student will possess an enriched comprehension of effectively applying their skills to on-screen work.

In the online format, the webcam becomes a crucial tool, allowing for in-depth scrutiny of close-ups and mid shots. Scenes will be captured and later reviewed for analysis, with a specific emphasis on mastering the nuances of subtle performances in close-up shots. For in-person sessions, our cutting-edge camera equipment will be utilized for real-time recording and playback, enhancing the overall learning experience.

AUDITION TECHNIQUE

You'll be tasked with preparing audition pieces and presenting them live, mimicking the casting process. Given the increasing prevalence of online submissions by employers, working in this digital space will equip you with the necessary skills for this evolving landscape. Engaging with contemporary scripts and casting materials, you'll also practice recording and submitting self-tapes, aligning with the current trend in casting procedures. Constructive and thorough feedback will be provided in class to enhance this crucial skill.

During in-person sessions, you'll acquire the skills essential for live castings and participate in meticulous mock casting exercises on both digital and traditional platforms.

TEXT & PERFORMANCE

Proficiency in script comprehension, deconstruction, and analysis is crucial for an actor, and at ASOA, you'll acquire the skills to master these aspects, translating them into dynamic and captivating performances. The modules will involve intensive work on scenes from contemporary texts, utilizing TV and film scripts as valuable resources in online classes. As you progress through your ASOA course, your capacity to tackle progressively challenging texts will expand.

Consistent with the hands-on approach of all ASOA classes, these modules are highly practical. Expect to actively perform in every lesson, receiving thorough feedback and detailed notes from your tutors to refine your skills.
